Beliefs

We are a new church founded upon an ancient faith – a 21st century church built upon 1st century beliefs.

  • We are a community of Christ-followers from many different backgrounds and faith traditions. So whether your background is Catholic, Presbyterian, non-denominational or unconvinced, we want you to feel free to honestly explore our church at your own pace.
  • Our beliefs are consistent with historic, orthodox Christianity, rooted in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament and consistent with the ancient creeds of the church. One good summary is found in The Apostle’s Creed which flows from the faith and convictions of the first century church:

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

  • Our vision is to grow in our love for God and for others as summarized in the Jesus Creed (words taken from the Shema of Judaism (Deuteronomy 6:4–9), which declares we are to love God with all our being, amended to include caring for one’s neighbor as oneself as found in Leviticus 19:18), as found in the New Testament: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40).
  • We are a missional community of faith and as such are committed to joining in the activity of God in the world wherever we are able, partnering with God as God’s dreams for our world become a reality. In the process, we believe the world can be changed, healed and restored, and so can we.
  • We are a member of the Willow Creek Association, a global network of over 10,000 churches committed to reaching seekers and building believers through culturally relevant expressions of the historic Christian faith.
