Why We Worship

At Christ Community Church we believe that we have been designed by our Creator to worship – and that the God who created us and redeemed us in Jesus Christ is worthy of our worship and devotion. Because of this conviction, we come together each Sunday morning as a community of faith to worship our great God. Our worship gatherings are designed to help people connect with God, by offering space and creating an environment for people to express their love for and to God through dynamic music, meaningful prayer, community time, and the practical teaching of the Scriptures. Our goal is relevant worship for the real world and our gatherings are purposefully catalytic in nature, fueling people for their lives of faith throughout the week.

While our Sunday worship gatherings are extremely important, we know that worship should not, and in fact, cannot, be confined to a particular time or place. Louie Giglio wrote,

“Worship is our response both personal and corporate to God – for who God is and what God has done, expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live.”

We seek to continually express our worship, in word and deed, Monday through Saturday, in the various places we live, work, learn, and play. As we relate to one another in love and humility, we can do so as an act of worship; as we participate in meaningful work, we can offer it to Christ as our act of worship; as we engage our minds in educational pursuits, we can be worshipping Christ; and as we care for ourselves through rest, recreation, and renewal, we can be presenting our bodies to God in worship. And as we share with our neighbors in need, both near and far, we can be worshipping Christ, for the Scriptures remind us:

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:15-16).

Why worship? Because it is what we have been created for. And worship is not only the activity of the human soul, it is the only activity that will continue eternally. God’s People from every period in history, from every geographic place, from every tongue and tribe will be gathered as one, expressing their love and devotion to their Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. Our mission is to help people connect with God through worship, and in so doing, we join in the activity of heaven, right here and right now.

Why worship? Because our God is a great God and is worthy of our worship!
